  1. i do some part time work @ a John Deere dealership & have hauled a couple 6-8inch by 3ft axle shafts to the scrap dumpster. ya think they would be ok to use? (i can get them for scrap price) i dont do anything real big just railroad spikes & twisted barbed wire knife blades. the anvil i have now is a piece of RR track & i dont like it.

  2. Umm... my primary income comes from Custom Fencing. So on the off months its time for repairs first to the stuff we broke and pushed to the side in the mad rush to keep the customers happy and the critters in! Then its time to pound on some steel and I do some carpentry & household wiring & plumbing. I do a little leatherworking(too cheap to buy it so I make my own), gardening, netmaking, now and again I get a chance to hunt and fish and read pretty much any chance I get in between.

  3. my slack tub came from a 16 gallon beer keg that was left in the shelterbelt at my friends farm after some kids' party was busted. i just cut out the center of the top leaving a 1'' ring & made a basket. works great has handles built in so its easy to move, empty & clean.

  4. anyone know of a supplier(s) of kaowool or durablanket etc. in the northeast corner of SD/MN area? I think its time to quit trying to be cheap & do it right. guess I'll have to use the perlite for plants & the fireclay for pots!!!

  5. hi I'm building a propane forge And have a few questions. I want 2 use a piece of 12'' pipe 16'' long. I plan on lining it 2'' thick with ep kaolin & silica sand 50/50 (I have them on hand). I am going to use a 3/4'' oliver upwind burner. what I want to know is will this be to thick for the clay to set? Is this going to be too much volume ( 8'' by 12'' after making end caps)for just one burner?

  6. yeah htat works we did the same at my friends place our torch set up was just shy of 75ft long. we used 3/8'' hose the only thing you will want to do special is to put a hose reel in to roll it up when done. coiling it gets to be a mess!
