my sister is a glass blower, and she has done a few things like this and she puts them in the kiln for a slow cool down to keep the glass from breaking.

yea they are in-ground lift arms. Every time one breaks down the replace them with an electric lift, and i get 4 of these.

Ok my wife has put a no buy anvil ban on the house untill may. now i have 4 pieces of steel that are 2" thick 8" wide and about 2 1/2' long, if i stack these and weld them together would that be a sufficiant make shift anvil? I do not want to have to wait till may to start hammering on stuff as my forge is 90% complete and will be fired up this weekend. Let me know what you think. Also if you think this would work what have you guys used as an anvil?

hello im new to the site. Ive been doing metal sculptures for a few years and decided to make a forge, cause im tired of hammering on cold metal. Ive never done this before. Heres a picture of it in the process of being built. Its made from a 33 gal barrel and an old parts washer i found laying around work.
Ill post more pictures as I build.
