Crowd Source project in Govan
in Blacksmiths and Metalworkers Association of the South West UK
Posted
Hi All,
I wanted to make a thread to tell everyone about my project based in Govan, Glasgow. Govan has been a place where Blacksmithing has been an intecgral part of life for a long time, though since the docks shut down there has been many lose thier connection with metal work and this areas rich history. My project aims to get local people involved who are interested in or already involved in craft, to use thier imagination in a creative space. Run workshops with guest tutors from forges around Scotland, helping the individual forges out a little too.
It will be based in the local innitiaive Galgael founded by Colin MacCloud to inspire community and rekindle traditional craft. They have a working forge though there is nor money to get it running on a permanent basis.
With the money raised I aim to make a self-sustaining group that will educate, build community and help people find confidence through teamwork and individual development.
Please check out the page, share on social networks and if you can, donate!
Many thanks,
Tam Hewitt-Baker
