the forge i'm building is based on the design on the beautiful iron web site. Only mine is 40x32 as dad aquired a scrap piece of 1/4 plate from where he works. Hes also gathering 1/2 plate to weld up a fire pot for me

dang is it me or is all coal in Ga located south of atlanta?

I live 20 miles from the heart of middle Tn coal mining region and I can'tr find anything local. It can be frustrating for a new smith or a farrier/smith turning from gas to coal as in my case.

anybody know if aetna coal in Wildwood, Ga is still open? They're about an hour from me, but the phone number listed is disconnected. I've got a brand new coal forge and no coal to put in it.

ran up on this thread and thought i'd add my somewhat late .02. On the adjustable forks, I have a book that shows using one fork and welding various diameter pipe sections to another piece of angle iron. Creating large diameter scrolling jigs.

Greetings all. I'm a farrier turned blacksmith. Although I must admit I use very few of my shoeing tools. I inherited a mouse hole anvil that my father has welded up (swaybacked) and had it machined flat. One of my customers is a blacksmith and gave me a buffalo blower and I'm building a forge that I found on the beautiful iron website.
At the moment i'm using my gas forge, but am looking forward to getting my coal forge up and running.
I'm reading all I can on the subject and banging steel when I can.
