I have made a knife out of them. Unfortunately that was before I knew hardened from mild. You got me curious now. Try one and let us know how it works. Thats how we learn!

Thanks for the comments. I understand what your sayin Dodge. I didnt think about that while I was makin it. Good thing is for who its goin to itll probably be mostly for decoration. Ill definitely keep that in mind for the next one though.

I guess in the time ive been on here this is my first blade posted. Been too busy admiring yalls to post my own. :)So here it is.
Its a farriers rasp with elk and steel pins. I made it for my county 4H extention agent. Shes done a lot to help further my equine knowledge (hence the rasp). I had been saving the elk for somthin special. I figured this would count. I wound up liking it so much that I made myself a hoof pick with the same motif. (Ill throw in a pic of that for novelty sake)
And of course it shaves.
Blade- 4 1/8
Handle- 5 1/4
Spine- 3/16
Pins- 2@1/4 & 2@1/8
Sanded to 600grit
Comments, questions and suggestions welcome and appreciated. -
I left every thing as is except the old propane bottle to hose connector. I took that out and replaced it with a 0-30psi regulator. Its amazing what a little pressure can do. Im running 3-5psi with very satisfactory results.

The guage came in and I got it hooked up. It works! Thanks again guys.

Oh... and to Glenn, no the hose wssnt clogged. Im kinda surprised because thats the one thing I didnt check.:)

I appreciate all the suggestions. Out of 5 stores all are eaither out of stock or dont carry them so I ordered a regulator on ebay. Ill let yall know if that does the trick.
I dont/wont use it as pictured. It was stricktly for photographic evidence. :)
Thanks again, Daniel -
So I finished my homemade forge and burner and put it all together. Its a ron reil style burner. I attached burner to propane tank with a 10' propane hose (the kind without a regulator) from lowes. I fired it up with no problem but the gauge read no pressure. It would only get my horseshoe barstock (3/8x7/8) orange and that takes a little bit. So I got a 5' hose and tried that... same story. Then I took the hose out of the system and with the help of some blocking hooked the tank strait to the burner. I lit it up and bingo I had all the pressure I could a want. Now the barstock will get yellow.
Ive tried tried tweaking and adjusting everything I can think of with no luck so im needing some help. Thanks in advance! -
Very nice. I especially like the the second one. Great work.

I've been using e6000. Its not expensive and it holds well.
Make sure and clamp it and let it dry for AT LEAST 24hrs though.
Good luck and have fun -
Thanks for the input. Sorry if I stole the thread:)
-
But letting it sit and dry will do that?
-
Might as well.
And is that all you have to do? Let it dry out? -

Nordic Forge Rounding Hammers
in Hand Hammers
Posted
I am currently using a Nordic. I have had to round the edges a little more and relieve the botten edge so I dont leave tracks. I think thats probable my problem. So far I fairly pleased with it. While a little light for general forge work it works great for turnin shoes which is what I use it for.
