I would be setting the casing on end beside the fire pot. Basically a round super sucker. Do you think that would work?

I am a new to blacksmithing, and am trying to build my first smithy. I have basically everything done but a chimney. Previously I have been hung up on a super sucker or other side draft/sheet metal style chimney. This last week I was discussing with my dad what makes a chimney a good chimney, and the point came up if the outlet draws more than the inlet (to create the suck) it would work. So my question is I have a piece of 22" steel casing about 5' long, if I took about 2' of it and put lids top and bottom with a 8" arch in the side/bottom with a 12" pipe venting it...would that work? Thanks in advance for y'all's advice. Here's a couple of pics

Elevator guy huh? I am also, I have been with OTIS for 7 yrs and in the trade for 12. There is hemp in the center of elevator hoist cables. There isn't any in most crane cables.Thanks... that early offering was one of the few that turned up on a search. I see he never posted prices -- or at least not yet. No urgency in any case -- I wouldn't likely be doing anything much with it before Spring. I hadn't considered the other sources. Kind of embarrassing, since I worked for Otis Elevator for a few years. --Pete -
Dillon where in central Arkansas do you live. There is a local chapter and they are having a monthly meeting tomorrow around Stuttgart. I am from Beebe by the way and just starting out myself.

I bought this off a neighbor for about fifty bucks I have the complete forge stand and all. I can't find any information or pics like this. I can't seem to include my pics so the gearbox is No 40 and the fan housing is marked 48r. It fastens on top of about a 3" pipe
