My dad and I made a smaller work table with tube steel for a frame, angle iron for the legs then put a good quality plywood on top then covered that with a nice thick piece of sheet metal. It works great and it's easy to bolt down a vise or other table mounted tools to it. I would definitely recommend doing it that way, you'd have to up the scale but the price of the sheet metal is worth it.

In Sioux Falls, southeast corner of the state. The "Biggest" city in South Dakota at 143,000 people which gives it the small town feel with the big city accommodations.

Hello everyone, my name is Anthony and I am from South Dakota. I have been smithing for about a year now and I can tell already that I'm going to like this forum. I hope to learn as much as I teach. I've been forging mainly Northern European style medieval weapons and housewares but hope to expand to more complicated things soon.
