Every thing went pretty smooth, i didnt cut any connections, wired it up just like the instructions said, but the readings max out, i would like to just read the temp in the forge, do i have to compensate for ambient temp outside, the meter maxes out as soon as i turn on the forge, ya think i have the wrong setting, thanks for the help.   2. I purchased this pyrometer mdl, #at-100 kln from auberine.com. I wanted to measure what kind of heat my habenero from chile forge was putting out. I am not a tech guy, i am having a hard time setting this thing up, can anyone give me a heads up in plain english, your input would be greatly appreciated, i inserted the heat probe between the burners at about one inch in the forge, this is what david from chile forge recommended.   3. I have a chili habanero, its a dbl burner, thanks for your reply matt, just looking for a cheaper option, itc gets pricey. Sean.


    Mod note: then I will relocate this thread to the proper location, unless you have converted your gas forge into a solid fuel forge?.

  4. Where is a good place to find psi, gauges. I have a five gallon tank, when i bought my forge, it had this cheap gauge on it, i cant tell what my pressure is. Thanks for all input. Sean.

  5. Hi everyone, my name is Sean Meloy, I am from san diego cal. I started out making bbq. Tools, my daughter bought me a small forge about 4 mounths ago, and i have been practicing ever since. This end of cali. is kind of dry on blacksmithing, there was a place 25 miles away that taught the basics. A community college thing, i sighned up but they cancelled the class because of low enrollment, i am still searching, i check out all the tutorials online then go practice, i bought lorelei sims book the backyard blacksmith, and that was a good basic for me, still is. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks sean.

  6. I just finished forging a set of bbq tools, mild steel, strickly outdoor use, i busted all the scale off, can anyone suggest a finish for outdoor use.My first thread was not specific enough, thanks for the input. Sean.

  7. this is my first post, as a new member,here goes.I was forging 304 1/4 inch ss. rod today, finished the forging part, then i wanted to braze two pieces together, normaly i have no problem, i am gas brazing, oxygen dial on 8 act.on 4 i use a 3/32 bronz coated rod, i had a difficult time brazing the two together, did i change the ss, by forging. Yes i did get then to stick but it was hard. Any help will be apprieciated. thanks sean.
