Thanks for all the advice my name is ben by the way thanks rich for the comparison it make s alot of sense and im not using expensive stuff yet and i wont try till i have more experince i was just wondering and doing some research. and jph im just doing research still. thomas again thank you for the advice i would like to make Scottish claymores eventually, i now its going to take a few years to get to there, i was also thinking of doing Turckish Sabres/ sckimatars (not sure of spelling).

not mesured in years yet im 15 and have been blacksmithing for a bout 2 months. i can make a leaf and i have made several small nives that will keep an edge but they look like crap its really just a angled peice but they work as carving knives.
oh and i live near ottawa -

thanks for the book suggestions i will check them out. thanks for the suggestion on making one out of wood i have made a few, my parents trust me eneough that wheni go to my dads wood shop i can use what ever i want down there. i also work in it. thanks again
