Hamster
I'm totally new to metalworking but have wanted to learn about blacksmithing for about 20 years. I finally decided to something and signed up for a welding class. I love it. Now I'm looking for equipment and will hopefully start hitting things with a hammer by this summer. This site is great. There is so much information.

Frosty
Welcome aboard mid sized rodent guy, glad to have ya. My advice is don't wait till you have everything you THINK you need, build a fire and start hammering. All you need is a hot fire, something heavy to beat against and a hammer to get started. There are lots of options available, check the getting started, lesson in blacksmithing and Blueprints sections. Take a lunch and something to drink though. If you'll click "User CP" at the top of the page and edit your profile to show your location so folk know where you are, they can let you know about get togethers, tool deals, maybe provide hands on help.
