Jacob s
A freind of mine asked me if there was a temp at which if the steel was cooled after reaching that would take away the metals magnetism, is it possible?
Frosty
Not simple steel, no. There may be some alloy that could happen with but I couldn't say. However, he may have been thinking of something a little different. If you have a piece of magnetized steel and heat it past critical (non-magnetic) it will lose it's magnetism after it cools. It won't attract another piece of iron. It will be attracted to a magnet though. Frosty
Mills
Or possibly he was referring to the temp at which steel becomes non magnetic. It becomes magnetic again after cooling below that point.
