Goods
Yesterday, I stopped by one of our IBA chapter founder’s, who had helped me out along my journey in smithing, for a visit, only to find he passed away the previous night. It had been a while since I visited and I knew he’s been missing out on a lot with reduced mobility so I was going to stop by Sunday. I decided he would want to see what I had been working on and the finish wasn’t dry on my project yet, so I put the visit off for a day. I could have just went and had a good chat and could have planned another visit for show and tell. If you find yourself in this situation, don’t put it off for another day. Ray will be missed by all. He was a dedicated smith who served our community well. David
Frosty
Oh that is HARD news Dave, I feel for you and will say a few words with Higher for Ray and you. I got a phone call from one of the guys in our club on a Friday. The host of the next day's meeting's wife had passed away in her sleep the day before. No meeting and I haven't called the club president to see if our grieving club member is up for a phone call. It's like the Country Western song recorded by Tim McGraw, "Live Like You Were Dying," I don't recall who wrote it but they wrote it from the heart and it shows. It still brings tears to my eyes. https://youtu.be/YSc35IJaWl4 Frosty The Lucky.
Ridgeway Forge Studio Posted yesterday at 01:54 AM Share Posted yesterday at 01:54 AM David, My condolences. Losing someone close is painful, especially a mentor. Yesterday I sat reading across from the language learning lab at my university, which is dedicated to my German professor who passed several years ago. Losing a mentor is never easy. Irondragon Forge ClayWorks Posted yesterday at 02:54 AM Share Posted yesterday at 02:54 AM I know what it is to lose ones mentor. I will ring the anvil in the Celtic garden to honor Ray, even though I did not know him. Maybe some day we can all be united with our mentors. Randy I can’t control the wind. All I can do is adjust my sails. ~Semper Paratus~
