Rforgeiron Posted December 15, 2024 Posted December 15, 2024 Hi I’m planning on making a ribbon burner propane forge. My question is if I can use a construction air blower fan like below. I like the speed control. Do you think I should just find something else or go with it? Tried researching I didn’t really help so… if anyone has some advice please share Quote
Irondragon Forge ClayWorks Posted December 15, 2024 Posted December 15, 2024 That blower would put out way way too much air for a forge the size you are planning. This thread may help you out. https://www.iforgeiron.com/topic/71243-controlling-airflow-on-a-forced-air-ribbon-burner/ BTW: Have you read the Read This First thread. It is full of hints to get the best out of IFI and some what not to do so the moderators won't have to edit your posts. If you search for blacksmith supply they have blowers for forges that will work for your forge. I can't control the wind, all I can do is adjust my sail’s.~ Semper Paratus Quote
swedefiddle Posted December 15, 2024 Posted December 15, 2024 Good Morning, Red Deer Start out simple, an old Hair Dryer puts out more than enough air volume for a ribbon burner. I have a Ribbon Burner that operates without a Blower. Using a blower you get another adjustment, you can balance the Propane and the Air volume to get a great mixture, easier. You can use a reostat from the Hardware Store to adjust the Hair Dryer speed/volume. Start out with a Brick Forge, learn what works and you can carry that knowledge forward. There is no such thing as only having one Forge!! The blower above, is too much air!! Quote
