clewer
Hello there again! My godfather bought a house from a smith last week. The smith left all his stuff in the house, and I asked my godfather about the items. He left all kinds of forging tools(pictures and questions soon:)),cokes(is that a good for forging?) And I was thinking about a new forge, because my old one was built without experiences and reading about forges.I am thinking about a brick forge.Where can I get some information about brick forges. And what would You suggest? Thanks for all the help i received in older threads!!! Clewer
ThomasPowers
Clewer, I would not suggest going to a masonry forge until you are pretty well experienced as a smith and so know what you most likely will be doing the most of and are pretty well settled down in a location and unlikely to be moving around. That said most of my smithing friends with a masonry forge use theirs to put their propane forge on lighing the coal forge only when needed for specific tasks. Rob Browne
Good ideas above. A masonary forge is like an observatory in astronomy, you only build one in the location you are well and truely settled into. they would be a right $%^*_+&^ to move :)
