anvil
God Bless the Ukraine. They have been fighting Russian oppression since about 1703. They know whats in store for them and are being heroic. Political comment removed. Irondragon Forge ClayWorks
Lets not venture into the political side of this situation. I will ring the anvil to ask for healing to begin and keep everyone as safe as possible.
Scott NC
I have strong feelings about the matter but will ring my anvil and say a prayer, instead. I wish we could ALL just get along.
Irondragon Forge ClayWorks
I also have strong feelings about it, as my maternal side of the family immigrated to the U.S. from the Balkans just before WWI.
anvil
My Paternal Granfdather was from Serbia. Grandmother was from Croatia. Left home when he was 12. He too got here just before WW1. He worked in the coal mines all his life.
Irondragon Forge ClayWorks
Mine came from Slovenia, just about neighbors with yours. They settled in Cleveland Ohio and he was a beer delivery wagon driver. A picture from 1927
anvil
Great Pic! My Grandfather has an interesting story. Shortly before the dust bowl and great depression, He ended up in Montana. Got a job in a mine. They took him down and he met his crew. To his surprise, they were his two brothers! Long story short, they all moved to eastern Colorado and tried homesteading. Sugar beets were prime. Alas, By hook and crook, they lost their water rights. Back to the coal mines in the Colorado Springs area and the steel mills in Pueblo. I, as a youngster, particularly remember the smell of his pipe(Prince Albert), his accent, his gardening, the smell of coal, and all the middle European "North Ender" neighbors. Thats the north end of the Springs. Maybe that smell is why I got into smithing.
