ChefLee
Can anyone give me pointers how to retin my copper pots. I've researched it quite a bit before attempting it. I've tried several times unsuccessfully. I soaked the pot in white vinegar and used a scouring pad on it. I have a good heat source. I have Flux and pure tin yet the tin will not spread very well and any material I use to spread it around leaves particles in the tin. I've used pieces of cotton jeans and I even read that insulation can be used so I tried that as well. I have very well made old and thick pots. Any advice other than send them out to be done professionally?
ThomasPowers
What flux are you using? I've retinned a few pots using flux and pure tin from Rotometals. Is your good heat source like this one or is it more like that one? PICTURES STRONGLY SUGGESTED! Or can we stop by and see how you are doing it?
