I Forge Iron

bouquet with vase

Recommended Posts

I like it Bas, do it a few more times and I see a good selling product here. I'm thinking copper tubing for the vase and torch enamel for color. Of course torch enameled copper roses and leaves follows. Hmmm?

This has a lot of potential.

I can only guess on the center part of the vase that it was cut then squished lengthwise to give that look. The base I dunno, maybe a separate piece? And that rolled top ,  I'd love to know,  it is great.

Nice piece, and its great playing guessing games on how its made.

I would do this out of seamless heavy wall tubing.

I understand and have done the top roll. Also I understand and have done the middle. Ive see in the books by the great smiths from the 30's how the base can be done from tubing, but never done it myself.

I don't know how this piece was made but I know how I'd make it. Anyone who's made cat tail from pipe knows how I'd form the top and base. Rolling the edges on the anvil.

The slit and expanded body of the vase might take a little experimentation to come to the method I like best but one thought would be a spring tool and ring on the anvil. The spring tool would be a sort of snarling iron but only sort of. Tweak as necessary.
