Chris submariner
Hello, This is my first time here, my name is Chris from the Netherlands. I bought this anvil, can someone tell me something about it? Thank you very much.
Frosty
Welcome aboard Chris, glad to have you. I've seen markings similar to the ones you show in the picture but I can't be more help. Sorry. We have a number of members living in the low country, I'm sure one or more will say hi before long. It may take a while though so be patient. Frosty The Lucky. ThomasPowers
It looks like it is not used a lot or someone has ground down the face to "clean it up". Which is sort of like grinding down your own face when all it needed was to be washed! Anvils have a limited hardened thickness on their face; once that is gone they become door stops or anchors. Unfortunately a lot of folks don't understand that and so they ruin an anvil's usability trying to make it pretty to sell. The ball bearing test is designed to show if the face is sufficiently hard to use. On the other hand: anvils in pretty much unused condition show up surprisingly often! Chris submariner
The anvil has seen a lot of experience, the face of the anvil is dipped
ThomasPowers
Have the edges been repaired, odd to have a swale and the edges in such good shape.
