Draco
I am new to blacksmithing and a old veteran friend of mine gave me this anvil, said he’s had it for many many years and doesn’t know the story behind it. It looks old and in pristine condition (besides the rust) and I was hoping that someone would know something about this. And these are the only markings on it. Irondragon Forge ClayWorks
Would help to know where in the world it is located. I just did a quick search and found some info about them. Seems they were made for Sears & Roebuck and Montgomery Ward. https://www.iforgeiron.com/topic/956-vanadium-steel-anvil/
TWISTEDWILLOW
Most off brand anvils I’ve seen were made by some other company, could be A haybudden could be a Trenton could be something else, just buy looking at your pics I don’t Know it’s hard to tell. Does it have any numbers on the front? The numbers from Europe and America would tell a difference.
ThomasPowers
Page 227 in Anvils in America by Richard Postman. The bearing ball test will tell you the quality of the anvil.

ThomasPowers
Note this is not a rebranded anvil. It is a Cast Steel anvil made by it's own company back in the late 1930's/early 1940's. If the ring is clear and the face is hard it's a good anvil, if not then it's a bad anvil no matter who made it!
