Gary ONeal
Any information on this anvil would be appreciated. Marked Jos Attwood Warranted. 1 0 12. Thanks Edited May 27, 2021 by Mod30 Resize photos
ThomasPowers
English made, 19th century, original weight was 124# (CWT stamping) should be close to that now. Traditionally made: built up wrought iron body, forge welded face plate---probably in sections. Should ring. What are the ball bearing test results? When I use my browser (Chrome) to search on Attwood site:iforgeiron, com I get 81 hits; perhaps some of what you want to know has already been posted here? Irondragon Forge ClayWorks
That is a good looking anvil and should serve well, depending upon the ring & rebound test which will show if there is any hidden damage like the hardened face plate has become de-laminated or if it's been through a fire. I hope you have read about not doing any grinding, milling or welding on the face plate which does more harm than good.
