SinDoc Posted May 3, 2021 Share Posted May 3, 2021 I was gifted several lengths of square tubing by the neighbor. They are various lengths but I want to say they are all roughly 1/2 inch wide. I know that would be a really small billet at the end of everything, but would that be sufficient to practice on? Or would it be too small? I am just looking to practice making canister Damascus, so it wouldn't be used in anything critical (like a knife). I could get MAYBE 3-5 nails in it due to the size. You just using flat strap stock in it---(don't bother); or will you be using powdered metals in it---(might work if you will be using human powered hammerin on it.) I was planning on using 1095 powder (or 1084 as I haven't actually ordered any yet) and nails as I have roughly a 5 gallon bucket of assorted nails/spikes. Why not make some letters from bandsaw blade and insert them and see if you could make necklace pendants from it. Very small billets for practice.
