OriginalPancake
About 3 years ago I decided to start my 2x72 build. Life got in the way and several tracking issues with a treadmill motor I have up. Recently I said heck it and got the origin blade maker 3/4 Hp motor and vfd. Before I drill holes I want to make sure I'm doing it right.. I assume I want all the wheels aligned/ level with the drive wheel? And back from the grinder frame to establish good tension so the belt won't fall off? Thanks in advance
Steve Sells
3/4 Hp is very small, double that is recommended minimum
ThomasPowers
Most 2x72 grinders I have seen/used don't tension with the motor but with a spring loaded tension wheel. ++ on the larger motor.
Irondragon Forge ClayWorks
If you are talking about the V-belt tension, yes the pulley's must be aligned. Our KMG three speed grinder uses a 1 1/2 HP motor, I'm afraid a 3/4 HP motor will be way under powered like Steve said. Maybe a picture or two of your build will help clarify. ThomasPowers
Ah yes and the spring loaded belt tensioner is also shown in those pictures; thanks IronDragon FCW!
