JW513
Going to go look at it today or tomorrow. I don't need another one and I'm saving up for other gear, but for $250... he says it says 108 on it, so i'm thinking it must weigh 120lbs... Thanks
Anachronist58
Hello JW513, At an alleged $2/#, the price is right, but it looks as if it came out of a burned down building. Be sure to check the rebound, and hopefully, some keener eyes will ring in before you go to check it out... I would buy it just to pass a good deal to someone I know... Irondragon ForgeClay Works
The 108 may be the actual weight. Hay Budden anvils are marked in pounds not CWT weight. Even at $2.30 a pound if the ring & rebound is OK it's a bargain, especially if it turns out to be a Hay Budden. Look closely at the side with the horn pointed to the right,
caotropheus
Check as well several spots of the top plate with a small hammer and/or ball bearing to see if there are no delaminations. Yes it looks like the anvil come out of a fire and was exposed to the elements for a long period of time.
Dan N
I would think the odds are in your favor at that price.
