damsafteylways Posted March 23, 2021 Share Posted March 23, 2021 would anyone know if firebrick is needed in small scale arc furnaces, (like the hacksmiths) or could the firebrick be replaced with say brick or stone, or just having no shell and just doing it on a slab of concrete or something. Deimos Posted March 24, 2021 Share Posted March 24, 2021 Soft firebrick are used because they can stand the temperatures and keep the the heat inside the furnace.
