Interesting differences

I picked up another post vise and thought I would share some info for those that might be interested. 

They both measure exactly 4-3/8” 

The old one on the right is stamped 50 on the movable jaw. It has a 1-1/8” screw and a 1” leg. 
 

The new one is stamped 45 on the mounting bracket and has a 1-1/16” screw and a 11/16” leg. although lighter the jaws are much beefier than the larger vise.

i didnt really need the new one but it is really good condition and I might mount it on my welding table

Or as a travel vise if you do demos.   I generally divide vises into "gracile" and "robustus"  and it's possible to find most jaw sizes in both "light" and "heavy" forms. Though often with a greater weight difference than 5 pounds...  I see that your has different makers as well.
