Chris MMW
Hello everyone, new member here interested in all forms of metalwork. I have already learned a lot from lurking around the forums so I decided to finally officially say hello. I hope to learn a lot more from this place and it's wise patrons. George N. M.
Welcome aboard, Chris. You are only about 45 minutes away, over the hill. Once it is safe from the dreaded covids you are welcome to come over and hit hot metal at my shop. Hopefully, by then I will have a second forging station set up. Also, you might consider joining Rocky Mountain Smiths. They have a lot of good events but all demos are on Zoom right now and they have had to cancel their 2021 conference. On the plus side, membership is half price during covid. Again, once it is safe we may be able to ride share to their events. It's is only slightly out of my way to get to Colorado locations via Cheyenne. If you are setting up a coal/coke forge the nearest fuel source that I know of is Oleo Acres Farrier Supply near Berthoud. CO. They also have a pretty good line of blacksmith tools and equipment (hammers, tongs, anvils, etc.) if you want/can afford to buy new at retail prices. "By hammer and hand all arts do stand." PS I'm near the I-80/Grand Avenue interchange east of Laramie.
