ThomasPowers
Would mystery steel make good hammers? Yes, No, Maybe! Depending on what the alloy turns out to be and what YOU like in a hammer head. You will need to test it and see!
Rojo Pedro
Made a magic wand for my DIL who is into dungeons and dragons. RR spike and glass. bluerooster
Two more gas keys. One my first attempt at a scale twist, and the other pretty simple. I'll see if I can get a better pic.

SinDoc
That is a really cool wand Rojo! A wand has been on my list of things to make (if I ever actually get time to forge) as my wife is a big Harry Potter fan. Spent my weekend in at the very bottom of Kentucky in Williamsburg, so no forging although I did get to browse at a flea market. On Friday however, I got to spend several hours at a local smiths shop and watch him forge for a few things and learn some odds and ends.
Pat Masterson
Rojo Pedro that is really cool looking. Nice job. I finished this picture frame this weekend - I had trouble getting the clips in the back to stay on so I ended up drilling small holes and grinding a “post” into one side of each tab that fit in the hole with some jb weld. Not great but it should hold for something that’s just going to sit on a shelf. Tried to make a rose as well. I think it’s pretty good considering I kind of just cut the shapes out on a whim and the whole thing only took 45 min or so. Doesn’t really look like a rose though - some other strange flower. Paul TIKI
Super Excited now. I FINALLY got to light the redesigned forge and it mad an enormous difference. Lots more heat, easier to get to the sweet spot, and a bigger fireball means I can heat bigger and odder shapes. New tongs worked really well. It held the steel well and kept it from turning or rolling. It took a bit to get them adjusted right. Then I used them to take half of a 12 inch nail and I turned out an ugly, but much thinner leaf than I ever have before, and in less time and fewer heats. I think I have about 90 more leaves to go to meet my goal of 100 leaves.

Gandalfgreen
Well half my log is stripped but these mosquitoes have won they outnumber me. I will continue tomorrow with this after I coat my forge with colloidal silica and fire it for the first time.
BillyBones
Got some bolts made today. Yesterday had the twins, my 8 year old granddaughters for the day. Had some left over concrete so we made this for grandma's garden. The lady of the manor said my hat needed washed, may have been about time. i dont remember the letters being white... Gandalfgreen
This probally a stupid question but Billy did you forge the threads ?
BillyBones
The small ones are just lag bolts that i squared the head on. The bigger ones i forged down a tenon to 3/8" and ran a die over for the threads.
Frosty
Gangalfgreen: If you light a couple charcoal briquettes you can toss some of the bark shavings on them, the smoke will help keep the mosquitos away. Light a couple briquettes so you can set smokers to keep some drifting to you. Old tuna cans work a treat for this. Frosty The Lucky.
JHCC
And smoke some sausages or something while you’re at it. (Side note: do not apply spray-on bug repellent near a lit forge.)
