You need to do research BEFORE you start a project. Better still pick a proven set of plans and follow them.

He’s autistic, so he’s very sensitive to noise. When I asked him to help, the first thing he said was “WHERE ARE MY EAR DEFENDERS?!?”

Greetings, John,

Your son may, also, have hyperacusis.  (Over sensitive hearing).

People who have Autism and/or Asperger's syndrome frequently have hyperacusis.\

It is an easy thing to check.

 Regards,

Everyone,

SLAG.

Spent some more time shaping, hand filing, and grinding a blade. Time for heat treat... I'm going too crazy and getting a pretty thin edge before hardening. Wish me luck.

I assume you meant ANOTHER spiral chandelier

I made a chandelier in the photo before. This is a sample.
The new one will be larger.

Friday has started I see.   I'm headed down to spend time with my Mother this weekend; so no shop time.  She's taking the death of her eldest child hard.

Well JLP, it *is* a rather dull purpose, isn't it?  I mean, it just sits there and holds stuff.

I'm actually very excited about it!

The customer sent a photo of the installed chandelier.
In the spring I sent to Mineapolis.
Today took up another new chandelier. Very big.
I make 3 chandeliers at the same time.

Made another tooling for the treadlehammer. A pair of special toolholding tongs.

Here a roundpunch hold by this tongs. Made that roundpunch too today. So you still can see the colours from the heatreatment ...

Interesting idea, to have the inside of the jaws rounded to match a swaged tool. I like.

I made a metal air curtain for my gas forge, to replace the cardboard and duct tape proof-of-concept version:

It’s made of 2” square tube and some bits of pipe, with twenty 3/16” holes across the top:

And here it is with the sliding stock support in place:

The original version was too close to the forge opening, and I think it was actually blowing the flames back inside. This one is far enough out that you can’t even feel the rising air right at the front of the forge.

Further updates once I put it to use.

Per your suggestion, Frosty, here's my  new Flatter.  Half inch thick plate, 4"x4" with a twisted handle made from garage door spring.

Nope, Frosty, have nothing to try it on yet.  Thanks for the tip.  But think I'll leave one side sharp and the other rounded so I have an option.  Opinion?

bobasaurus, that is an absolutely beautiful shoe horn.  I'm sure your Dad will really like it.

Chris, that's a pretty little twist on the handle of your flatter. I don't know how it will work, but you can always modify it to suit your needs. Nice work.

bobasaurus, that's about the niceset shoehorn I've ever seen.
