He’s autistic, so he’s very sensitive to noise. When I asked him to help, the first thing he said was “WHERE ARE MY EAR DEFENDERS?!?”

Greetings, John,

Your son may, also, have hyperacusis.  (Over sensitive hearing).

People who have Autism and/or Asperger's syndrome frequently have hyperacusis.\

It is an easy thing to check.

 Regards,

Everyone,

SLAG.

Well JLP, it *is* a rather dull purpose, isn't it?  I mean, it just sits there and holds stuff.

I'm actually very excited about it!

I'm headed down to spend time with my Mother this weekend; so no shop time.  She's taking the death of her eldest child hard.

Our prayers go with you and yours.

Interesting idea, to have the inside of the jaws rounded to match a swaged tool. I like.

I made a metal air curtain for my gas forge, to replace the cardboard and duct tape proof-of-concept version:

It’s made of 2” square tube and some bits of pipe, with twenty 3/16” holes across the top:

And here it is with the sliding stock support in place:

The original version was too close to the forge opening, and I think it was actually blowing the flames back inside. This one is far enough out that you can’t even feel the rising air right at the front of the forge.

Further updates once I put it to use.

Friday has started I see.   I'm headed down to spend time with my Mother this weekend; so no shop time.  She's taking the death of her eldest child hard.

God speed Thomas, I pray for peace and comfort for you and yours.

Nope, Frosty, have nothing to try it on yet.  Thanks for the tip.  But think I'll leave one side sharp and the other rounded so I have an option.  Opinion?

bobasaurus, that is an absolutely beautiful shoe horn.  I'm sure your Dad will really like it.
