jlpservicesinc
Be sure to go with a finer cut on the hardening aspect of polish.. That aggressive of a grit can lead to a lot of stress fractures in hardening.. More pics of the grinder please..

Irondragon Forge ClayWorks
Started making a side draft charcoal forge. Using the base from a water pressure tank we cut up to make a fire pot out of the top. I'll start a thread in the forge section when I have more pictures. Cannon Cocker
Spent the day making hooks to fill my first smiting order. The bottle openers were done yesterday
Ted Ewert
Nice flower arrangement 'scotty. I may borrow some of your ideas. Thanks!
MotoMike
made some handles for a draw knife I'm making. and I learned that 36 grit belts will take off a knuckle like it's not even there!
jlpservicesinc
typically the handle were driven all the way through and peened or they were riveted in.. Nice handles just didn't see a way of mounting them solidly..
JHCC
Made a split cross for a silent auction to benefit my son’s swim team: Also tried out the guillotine I made yesterday to make the stem on this fuller: It worked really, really well. Forging the stem took about five or six heats; I estimate that I could probably do it in four, maybe even three. (This after I figured out that I could get more power out of the treadle hammer by dropping my weight on my supporting leg before engaging the downward thrust of my stomping leg.) ThomasPowers
Yes 36 grit will do that! I've seen the results with a blademaker friend of mine---over 2 months of downtime with no money coming in and high medical expenses...
Irondragon Forge ClayWorks
The side blast forge is coming along.
JHCC
Also a hollow chisel for cutting the back of the bosses on split-rein tongs. And reshaped the handle on the knife I started with Latticino.

I was planning on epoxying them in, but I might drill them through and do the traditional install. I have enough tang to draw it out enough to do that. ausfire
John, I really like the coarse texture on that split cross. Can we see the hammer that created it, please?

JustAnotherViking
Nearing completion Need to make a few more bits to attach the top, then aggressively wire wheel it, and apply a finish.

John in Oly, WA
Just finished up a burnout oven to improve my metal casting process. Still not happy with my casts, but they're improving.
Ranchmanben
Finally made my first knife. Made from mystery metals with sparks I liked. Not sure how many layers or what the pattern would be called if it even has a name. Elk handles with copper rivets.
Helena
Nice little blade! I've not made a knife yet... Too scared. Also, pretty impressive castings! Great detail
Ranchmanben
Thank you. No reason to be scared of trying something new. I waste metal all the time trying new things.

Irondragon Forge ClayWorks
Ben your first is ten times better than my last and I've been making knives longer than I care to admit. I still haven't tackled pattern welded either.
