Jaegers Forge and Foundry
So I know that on rail road spike HC means higher carbon and MC means mild carbon, but the rail road spike I found has what looks like to be a H a W and a C Can anyone tell me what this means? Steve Sells
the HC are 0.28 carbon at best not really High Carbon. there is no Mild Carbon label, you are assuming too much, Remember its a nail, and spikes can have many numbers or letters on them denotes the manufacturer
Jaegers Forge and Foundry
Okay thanks. I think I'll make it a decoration piece rather then a functional piece
Charles R. Stevens
Plan of forge welding an edge or a bit into it if your making a tool.
Jaegers Forge and Foundry
I might use it to make a tomahawk and have a high carbon steel edge
