JCL BlackSmith
My forge is setup up in a way that makes my propane hose hot...not on fire but hot. I can touch it without getting burned or anything like that but I feel uncomfortable having my propane hose getting hot. I have a simple question, how much heat tolerance does a propane hose have? Frosty
Welcome aboard JCL, glad to have you. If you put your general location in the header members near you can provide location specific: answers, information and invites. If you can hold it, it's a long way from too hot. If you want to isolate it, I recommend placing a fitting to connect the hose down below the forge and running copper tubing to the burner itself. Frosty The Lucky. ThomasPowers
Yes if you can hold it; it's way cooler than just sitting in the NM sun temps!

swedefiddle
Good Morning, Get some 'Fire Sleeve' from your Hose Supplier. Feed your hose through it, for heat deflection. Neil
JASL3241
Someone said you should sleeve the hose. If the hose is getting hot because of proximity to the forge this may be a good idea. If it is getting hot because the burner is transferring heat to it insulating with sleeving is a waste of money and a very bad idea. It will make your problem worse because the hose can’t transfer heat to the air around it.
