Iain Hilton
Sorry. Attached photo direct from album, markings shown. Any ideas would be hugely appreciated. Thanks
Irondragon Forge ClayWorks
The only markings I see are punch marks where the blacksmith tested the hardness of tools he made.
Iain Hilton
Ok. So the three triangle marks facing each other are not a makers brand but a test for hardness? I’m new with this and reading and listening to learn. Thanks Edited May 2, 2020 by Mod30 Remove excessive quote.
Irondragon Forge ClayWorks
Correct... BTW, you might want to edit your last post, quoting the post just prior to your reply is not necessary and frowned upon. The reason behind that is we have members world wide some who still have to rely on dial up internet/bandwidth or pay extra for data and that type of quoting uses both. OH while you are at it, if you edit your profile to show your location, you may be surprised how many members are close enough to visit and lend a hand and a lot of answers require knowing where in the world you are located. Randy Griffin
Post some more pictures. Sometimes an anvil can be id'ed by certain features. Let's see both sides, top, under the horn and heel and of coarse the bottom of the foot. I never get tired of looking at pictures of anvils.
