Water_Operator 1
It's a bit of a game of Wheel of Fortune. A friend is getting ready to move to a retirement village and has an anvil he would like to identify and value. He told me there are letters on one side, about 1/2" high as in the Title Box: G O * D * R O T. The asterisk are letters he says are illegible. I'm thinking "GOLD" something but that's just a swag (well, probably not even that). Any help or thoughts would be appreciated. Thank you. BTW, I did ask for photos so I'll see what I can get. ThomasPowers
Are the letters stamped into the side or cast proud of the side? Are there any numbers on the side or on the front foot?
Irondragon Forge ClayWorks
Pictures of the underside of the base may tell a lot along with both sides and front under the horn.

ThomasPowers
If other letters have been defaced already the possibility that the G was also and so may not really be a G? It's just a guess anyway until we get good pictures---and ones of the bottom and underside of the heel might help too!
Water_Operator 1
I'm trying to get photos. I have not seen this myself and unfortunately, with social distancing, our "Over the Hill Gang" of volunteers at the old iron furnace has not been able to get together for our weekly work days.
