jeremy1836
I have a forge with kaowool that is coated with satanite but it keeps nagging at me that fibres May still be getting out and I want to know if the forge is not in use do fibres still come off and into the air? The forge is in my shed where the workshop is along with a small gym and I want to know if the forge being in there will be putting dangerous fibres into the air just by it being in there or should I make a box and keep it outside? Please assume the forge is not coated if answering, thanks
JHCC
Welcome to IFI! If you haven't yet, please READ THIS FIRST!!! So long as the fibers are sealed inside the hard refractory, it shouldn't be a problem. If you rigidized the fiber first, even less so. Frosty
Welcome aboard Jeremy, glad to have you. If no ceramic blanket is showing, the refractory will encapsulate it safely. If you're still concerned take your shop vac to it before you put it away I sincerely hope I don't have to say, AFTER IT COOLS! You can put it in a closed box or slip a plastic bag over it if it's too heavy to move safely. Better to be safe than sorry. Frosty The Lucky.
