Cyp
Hello! I have been lurking on this site for a few months, absorbing as much info as I can. I finally took up the hammer in a class at Tillers International. I’m excited to be a part of this community and the journey into blacksmithing! I hear you all like pictures, so here are the first forgings of a beginner and the haul from the local scrapyard for materials and improvised anvils. Latticino
Welcome. Nice job on your first forgings. Much nicer than mine were. If that ring is forge welded, extremely nice job for a first session.
Cyp
Thank you! I appreciate your kind words! The ring is indeed forge welded. We learned forge welding and making hooks the first day and on the second we did the cold chisel and heat treating, which we then used for hot cutting on the spoon. The instructor and his student volunteer did a great job!
