Justin Topp
This is my first axe I’ve made. Wrapped and forge welded with a carbon steel edge. It’s a farriers rasp for the edge and railroad tie plate for the body. The tie plate sparked like some medium carbon steel and felt rather hard but I’m not sure. It’s 2.5 lbs with a 28” hickory handle. A bit rough but it will get the job done and should work pretty good.
Latticino
Very nice job. I like a "rustic" finish on axes. Looks effective and much nicer than my first one.
Justin Topp
Thank you very much. I like it too. I’m not the biggest fan of a polished axe.
ThomasPowers
Use it and if you start seeing some wear spots burnished on it you know what needs adjusting to make it cut deeper.
