slimpickins
Is this a True Temper saw filer/doctor’s hammer or Straight peen? Haven’t got a straight peen and need one so was going to grind this to a more suitable radius, but don’t want to ruin a speciality hammer. ThomasPowers
Search on 4 pound stone mason's hammer for examples. The big question is how did it end up there? I guess if I can find 1942 and 1986 7# straight peen sledges marked with the broad arrow here along the US southern border at a fleamarket US hammers could work their way down there. slimpickins
Thomas, Australia at one point manufactured locally many US brands such as Plumb, Stanley etc, using Aussie steel (alongside our own iconic brands) when shipping across the Pacific from the US was not economically feasible, as well as stocking some US made tools when US made, was known to mean made well. I’d say it was a lot more common to find some of yours over here, than the broad arrow and others over there. Most of what is left of our iconic brand names is the name only, as most, if not near all our steel manufacturing has been sent offshore, an idea that your country I understand could relate to. ThomasPowers
If it was made over there it shouldn't have the USA stamp on it; so it might be an import from the good old days, (and, yup, pretty much everything is from Asia these days...) pnut
It doesn't say made in USA just True Temper USA. Would that make a difference? Pnut
