Tarryn
Please advise how I can date this anvil Wilkinson Queen Dudley 0 2 13 South Africa
Glenn
0 2 13 usually refers to hundred weights, 0x112 + 2x28 + 13 or 69 pounds. In order to date most any anvil, you need to look up the serial number in the book Anvils in America. Photos of the anvil and any markings would help answer your question. If that is your location we won't remember it once leaving this post, hence the suggestion to edit your profile to show location as described in this. ThomasPowers
As I recall Wilkinson's are not serial stamped. You might be able to compare the stamping styles to find a general date; other than that find out when the company was in he anvil business for a loose date. However MOST ANVILS CANNOT BE EXACTLY DATED! Doesn't affect their worth or usability at all.
anvil
You might consider asking your anvils father for permission, or just grab your anvil "by the horn" so to speak, and just ask. Sorry, just couldn't resist.
