GMoore
Looking for a three burner gas forge (for knife making and other work) which will allow me to forge weld. The price should be in the $500 to $1000 range (no kits).
Steve Sells
few use a 3 burner for forge welding billets, maybe for anvils or boat anchors, that is pretty big
Mikey98118
You don't need three burners to run a big hot forge. Look into Chile forges if you're willing to spend that much money.
Frosty
The 3 burner forges you see on Forged in Fire are for show, nobody heats anything even 1/3 that long. Frosty The Lucky.
GMoore
Haven't even thought about Forged in Fire equipment.
Frosty
Those are the only long 3 burner forges I know of in regular use making knives. A finalist rarely has larger than a 2 burner forge at home. Occasionally you see guys line a couple up to heat treat or use a vertical heat treat forge but they don't forge out of them. If you heat more than you can work it really degrades the steel and scale losses mount up. Frosty The Lucky.
Irondragon Forge ClayWorks
The four forges at ESSA are three burner monsters. They were designed by a local smith so students could work out of both ends without crowding with each others stock. They are gas hogs to say the least but ESSA has a 1000 gallon propane tank to feed them so life is good.
