Bench anvil?

Found this today scrounging for blacksmithing tools. Tag said it was a bench anvil. Measures 5.5 in tall, 3.5 in wide and 1.5 in thick. For $6.00 figured I couldn't go wrong. Any opinions what it is?

Looks like a specialized swage block or power hammer die to me.

I don't think power hammer die, I don't see a good way to connect it. At the moment I'd say it's a bench anvil, swage.

My guess is for working cable

Can you explain further what you mean by working cable?

It's like rope work only done with wire cable and thus needing tooling to make bends, splices, install thimbles, etc.
