Gas forge supplies

Greetings!

I am well on my way with my propane tank forge build.  I have only recently started to read about insulating (ridgidizing / refractory coating) the forge.

Does the IFI store offer a kit of some kind with the necessary products to insulate my little forge?

I suppose I would need enough blanket / insulating wool to make up the two, one inch layers of insulation, rigidizer and refractory along with a couple of bricks to lay in the bottom.

I would be interested in purchasing the correct products from the IFI Store to do it correctly without having to piece stuff together.

Thanks,
Jim

Plistix and Fire brick are available

Fire bricks pricing and availability? I'm new to this. Live in a small town (Yerington, 89447) southeast of Reno, NV. Having a hard time finding supplies etc. I see the post about Fire brick being available, but couldn't find any more details then that. I need about 14 I think. Hope I provided enough info to avoid a slaughter!

Stickman, IFI will ship custom kits, in small quantities such as 5 pound packages of kast 30, plastix, and pints or rigidizer.  You get what you need for YOUR forge build.  PM me for what you want.

Rob338, check you PM for prices.

I’d like to order 5lbs of plisitx 94044 shipped to  and also ceramic rigidizer  . Any body have tips on using sodium

Silicate to hold ceramic insulation  to walls of forge and would I be if it from

welding some things for it to physically be held  to wall as well ?

If you were considering ordering refractory material, and want to beat the price increase, now is the time to request a quote.  The refractory material in stock will be quoted at the old price while the stock here lasts.  After that new prices on the refractory supplies will be quoted.

I haven't read about them cracking. This is the first propane forge I've had and first forge with fiberboard. I've heard about NC and Majestic forge liners cracking though. I'm not certain but I think they use the same type of vacuumed formed ceramic lining.

IForgeIron is now carrying gas forge supplies, such as Inswool insulating blanket, Kast-o-lite 30, insulating bricks, etc.

Watch this space as we list the products and prices.

PM me for details.

Edit:  Due to the high cost we no longer ship out of the US.  High? Shipping went to $50, to $80, and the last one was $135.00 in just shipping charges.

Hi Glenn, I'm currently in Port Angeles, WA. and am looking for new burners. Is there anywhere in this area that you know of that I could buy burners from? Or am I going to be stuck ordering from a place online?

I built my own burners already but wanted to try a different style of burner.

Do you know of anyone in the WA area that makes or sells burners? I've only come up with brands that must be ordered online.

Alternatively, is there a forum or something that I could talk to people that might know where I could find things for blacksmithing in the Port Angeles, WA. area?

You should be able to find almost anything in SeaTac region. You should be able to adapt burners from pottery kilns or glass furnaces. There is a large art glass community around there somewhere.

Maybe use the telephone rather than search online. Speaking to a living human, receptionist preferably it's easy to find things, as in, "darn, you guys don't carry/sell X-gizmo. Do you know who does?" If a given company doesn't know who does, they'll know who to ask. In 50 years of pursuing off the wall stuff I've almost never had to ask a 3rd. time.

Keep a notebook! The company you just talked to might not be able to sell or make your burner but they may have exactly what you need sometime in the future. I developed a nice little phonebook.;)
