I am ready to see a photograph of something that you have recently forged, as you are not retaining the information that these fine and exceedinly paitent people have generously provided so far.

Your last two responses show that you need to apply yourself at the anvil before trying to get more information here. If your anvil is too cold, we can wait until Spring.

All are free to correct me if I err.

Nah, you got it Robert, he's more in the talk talk talk stage than doing. I'm waiting to see some progress too, maybe even SOMETHING he's hit with a hammer.

Take the information you have been given to the forge and try it out. Then come back with your results (and photos) of your efforts and ask specific questions so we can provide specific suggestions. 

How difficult can it be to tie a magnet to a string, hang it somewhere, and then pass a piece of hot metal NEAR the magnet to see if the magnet moves?
