Texas55
I just got a pump forge when I took the blower apart I discovered that the blower shaft is rusted apart, does anyone know how I might be able to get this back in working ordered? Irondragon Forge ClayWorks
Welcome to IFI... Have you read this yet? It will help you get the best out of the forum like editing your profile to show location. READ THIS FIRST Is it the shaft that the blower pulley is mounted to or the main shaft for the large belt pulley that looks like it's held on with bailing wire? I have resurrected several shafts by grinding the rust away then welding it up and machining back to size. Without seeing the shaft, I don't know if that would work though. Finding a replacement shaft will be like looking for hens teeth.
Texas55
The bailing wire was used at one time as a spacer, it is the shaft that in bad shape, I will send a picture of the inside.
jlpservicesinc
get it apart then look for a local member here who has a metal lathe.. or if you can forge up a new one and hand finish it.. the options really are endless, where there is a will, there is a way.. If you were closer I'd be happy to help..
Texas55
Does anyone know how to go about rebuilding the shaft for this blower? your 2 threads have been merged since they are the same thing. Please do NOT repost this under other subjects again. That is considered spamming
Irondragon Forge ClayWorks
Like you were told in the thread about the forge, you will have to machine or forge a new shaft & hand fit it. If you were to edit your profile to show your location, you might be surprised to find a member near you and if you join a blacksmith club near you there are probably members who could make a shaft for you.
