Jawa
How long is it supposed to take to heat up, say, a railroad spike to a workable temperature? How fast should you crank it? I find I can’t get it hot unless I’m really winding that thing and even then I’ve got to do it for, I don’t know 3-5 minutes at least. I can’t tell if I’m doing something wrong or if my forge isn’t any good or if it really is this tedious. I’m using a brake rotor w/ coal. Tuyere is black iron pipe w/ flex duct connection held on my a thick black rubber drain connector.
Glenn
Photos of your forge set up would help. How large and how deep is your fire? You have to have more fuel than needed. Fuel does not make a fire hot, air makes a fire hot.
ThomasPowers
So are you using one of the tiny blowers used for a small rivet forge or are you using a large blower?
