Mel Le Roux
Hi, I've recently bought this anvil for 150 euros, it looks like its a Trenton and I'd really like to know more about it There is the Trenton mark on the side and numbers on the front foot. The numbers seems to be : "250 A 66 529" I heard that some Trenton anvils were made in germany and was wondering if it could be the case as there is no "USA" mark along the logo So I'm looking the making year and how it came here if its possible Thanks Mel
Frozenforge
Your anvil should be from 1918, I read the s/n as A166529. The German Trenton anvils were from the late 1800s. The 250 is the weight in lbs or 113 kg. How it got there? Your guess is as good as mine!
Irondragon Forge ClayWorks
A very nice Trenton indeed. Hope you have read about not grinding, milling or welding on the hardened steel face. From the title I figure you are located in Brittany France, if you edit your profile to show your location it will show up with every post. BTW Welcome to IFI, I always suggest reading this to get the best out of the forum.https://www.iforgeiron.com/topic/53873-read-this-first/
ThomasPowers
IIRC, the german Trentons did not have the front foot serial stamping. Trenton Mavens: is this correct? I also recalled that it was a US law that IMPORTS must show country of origin; as of 1910 not exports. Did any of the countries in Europe have a similar law back then? How it got there?---It was shipped by ship....

Black Frog
As Frozen Forge stated, this serial is A166529, there is no doubt from that style of logo stamp on the side. Made in Columbus, Ohio USA.
