jlpservicesinc
Well after a lot of use in the old masonry forge and then the last 20 years in the portable shop.. The firepot is starting to show it's age.. Been doing a lot of 2" Sq wrought iron work and the poor firepot started taking on a hot mess kind of look.. I swapped it out for a vintage Buffalo Vulcan firepot and elbow..

arkie
That old firepot looks like it was rode hard and put away wet! I bet the new ones won't stand up like that one did.
jlpservicesinc
I sure did especially because back then it was only about 125.00 for the whole thing.. first 1 I bought was 98.00.. Last NEB meet Was at Morrell Metal Smiths and they had a section of old used equipment.. I've been wanting to try a Vintage Buffalo Vulcan pot and they had one so bought it.. it had a broken ear on the tuyere assembly but welded back on the ear and cleaned up the elbow to firepot and is now installed in the trailer.. I often wonder why people who cast firepots change the design from the originals which worked so well.. So far with the coal I am using I'm very happy with the Vulcans design..
