I Forge Iron

Plane and ornamental forging", Ernst Schwarzkopf

This book was used by the NYC school systems around 1900 to teach blacksmithing.

It is well layed out from the "simple to the sublime".

Meaning it starts with basic shop layout, tool descriptions, fire building and control. On to the basics of forging. It covers tong making, center punch, cold chisels and far more.

Heat treating is covered in detail.

It continues on to advanced forgings from basic scrolls to repousse.

This is the book that Frank Turley used in his classes.

Its served me well and I refer to it often.
