Relyks13
I got some old L.P. gas pipe, how do I get the residual fumes out? It wreaks of propane in them and one was smoking when my buddy put one of his pipes in the forge, any suggestions how I clean it out? Frosty
1/2 C. chlorine bleach to a gallon of water and let it soak a while will strip the mercaptan oil oderant. More bleach isn't better, you can do with less if you let it soak longer though. 1/2 C and filled with water will deoderize a 40 lb. tank over night EASY and that's 8 gls. Frosty The Lucky. Irondragon Forge ClayWorks
Yep... that's how we did our propane tank for the forge. No smell no woof when it was cut with the plasma cutter.
WayneCoeArtistBlacksmith
I suggest that rather than using the pipe use a 20# Propane tank. The pipe will make a much heavier forge. The tank's ends wrap around and help protect the casting and ceramic blanket, not to mention just making an all around better looking forge. Sending people Off site removed Wayne Coe. ThomasPowers
I use old gas pipe to make chili peppers and bamboo; I do not think a propane tank is suitable for those. I don't recall them asking to make a forge from it...
mcostello
What's life without a woof now and then?
