Slitting shears are designed for straight cuts.. Throatless shears are designed for curved cuts with straight as a secondary offering.. What about Shear panty hose! I remember chopping a hole in a pond to bathe one still winter afternoon; but that wasn't as cold as using a stock tank fed by a windmill at midnight...with some wind. Now I remember a class in oceanography where they discussed an "improvised tools" day they had held and used pantyhose as a net to pull behind a boat for plankton sampling...
