Mrye
Cleaning out the barn after the passing of my father and found this anvil. I know it is old and weighs approximately 140lbs. Any ideas about it...make, value, etc? Thank you. Marla
Daswulf
It's a Fisher anvil. They are considered good anvils. They have a cast iron body and a hardened steel faceplate. Value is pretty location oriented and also what value someone finds in it either as a collector or user. Looks like a good user anvil. Don't grind on it. Just wire wheel to clean it up if you want to. You might find a date on it.
BIGGUNDOCTOR
MY 260# Fisher is my main anvil due to how quiet it is. Due to the construction of cast iron body with tool steel on the face and top of the horn they do not ring like other anvils. NJAnvilman here on the forum runs the Fisher Norris museum. The weight will be cast onto the base. The smaller anvil will use an abbreviated number that you times by ten to get the weight. 15 =150#. Fisher was very prolific and made over 500,000 anvils.
